Ingredients
- 4 cups mixed frozen berries (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry)
- 2 cups frozen mango chunks
- 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
- 3 medium bananas, sliced and pre-frozen separately
- 3 cups fresh spinach (divided across bags)
- 7 tbsp natural peanut or almond butter (1 per bag where used)
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 7 scoops protein powder (vanilla or unflavored, optional โ can add fresh instead)
Instructions
- Lay out 7 quart-size freezer bags on the counter. Label each one with a permanent marker directly on the bag: Berry Spinach, Tropical Green, Chocolate Banana, Strawberry Banana, PB&J, Mango Turmeric, Chocolate PB Banana. Include the date you're freezing them.
- If using fresh bananas, slice into coins and spread on a sheet pan. Freeze for 1 hour until solid before bagging โ this prevents the banana from clumping into a single frozen mass inside the bag, which makes portioning and blending much harder later.
- Bag 1 โ Berry Spinach: 1 cup mixed berries + 1 handful spinach + 1 tbsp almond butter + 1 tbsp chia seeds.
- Bag 2 โ Tropical Green: 1 cup mango + ยฝ cup pineapple + 1 handful spinach + 1 scoop protein powder if pre-portioning.
- Bag 3 โ Chocolate Banana: frozen banana slices (about ยฝ banana) + 1 tbsp peanut butter + 1 tbsp cocoa powder + 1 scoop protein powder.
- Bag 4 โ Strawberry Banana: 1 cup strawberries (or mixed berries) + frozen banana slices (about ยฝ banana) + 1 tbsp chia seeds.
- Bag 5 โ PB&J: 1 cup mixed berries + 1 tbsp peanut butter + 1 scoop protein powder.
- Bag 6 โ Mango Turmeric: 1 cup mango + ยฝ tsp turmeric + ยฝ tsp ginger + 1 scoop protein powder.
- Bag 7 โ Chocolate PB Banana: frozen banana slices (about ยฝ banana) + 1 tbsp peanut butter + 1 tbsp cocoa powder + 1 handful spinach (undetectable under the chocolate flavor).
- Press as much air out of each bag as possible before sealing โ excess air leads to freezer burn over the 3-month storage window. Lay all 7 bags flat in the freezer for the first 2 hours to set their shape, then they can be stacked vertically like files to save space. Each morning: dump one bag into a blender, add 1 to 1.5 cups of milk or plant milk (and yogurt if you want extra creaminess and protein), blend 45 to 60 seconds, and drink immediately.

Stored at 0ยฐF (-18ยฐC) or below, the bags hold for up to 3 months with minimal quality loss; fruit and greens retain their nutritional value well over this period. Always add liquid (milk, plant milk, yogurt, juice) fresh at blend time rather than freezing it into the bag โ frozen dairy changes texture in a way that's noticeable in the final smoothie. Once blended, consume immediately or within 24 hours refrigerated; a finished smoothie oxidizes and separates quickly, which is the entire reason this method freezes the ingredients rather than the finished product.
